15 Year Sentence for Unlicensed Gun

vlcsnap-2014-02-20-18h07m52s138A Belize City youth who was convicted late this evening is serving his first night of a 15 year sentence behind bars after he was found guilty of three firearm related offenses.   He is 21-year-old Lindbergh Alexander Clarke. This evening, before Magistrate Hettie Mae-Stewart, Clarke was found guilty of kept firearm without a gun license and two counts of kept ammunition without being granted a gun license.

For the three offenses, he was imposed three 5-year-sentences for each offense starting today.   The sentences are to run concurrently so in actuality Clarke will only serve 5 years of his 15 statue symbol of justiceyear sentence.

But Mr. Clarke could be out on an appeal’s bail as early as tomorrow since his attorney, Mr. Ellis Arnold, told the court that he is going to appeal the conviction and sentence possibly as early as tomorrow.   The accused was busted on July 14, 2012 while he was on Central American Boulevard.

The cops say they saw him throwing an object into a nearby drain. It was a 9 mm pistol with 3 live rounds of ammunition.
