Government contemplates new legislation to deal with public debt management

The Barrow administration is contemplating new legislation to deal with public debt management. During yesterday’s press conference, Prime Minister Dean Barrow hinted at what is to come.

vlcsnap-2013-03-14-20h33m38s151We did speak to the IMF about wanting to do this, and their technical people have been helpful in offering us a brief with some sign posts, but I have not yet studied that.  We wanted to get this out of the way.  So I can’t speak to the details right at this moment.

Barrow added that a committee will be formed to oversee that management, possibly headed by Ambassador for Economic Affairs, Mark Espat.
