Harry Arzu – Dangriga Correspondent:
The temperature on Saturday, March 23rd, was somewhere in the 90s and that was too much heat for the residents of this municipality, because they complained bitterly about it. But it was in this hot car, that that was exposed to the burning sun, that four year old Jahrion Joseph Lightfoot was found sometime after 12 noon lying still in the back seat of the family car, located on Polack Street, apparently suffering from heat exhaustion, due to the intense heat. Reports here indicated that the parents of four year old Lightfoot realized that he was not around them in their house, and as a result they immediately conducted a search for him in the vicinity. It was a while after that a family member decided to check in the car, where he was found unconscious. The little boy was then rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital, where medical personnel attended to him in an effort to revive him. A family member also reported that unfortunately shortly after 1 p.m. the same day, Lightfoot was pronounced dead. His parents and family are devastated. Police do not suspect foul play, and they concluded that the boy might have walked into the car and played with the locks and might have found it difficult to unlock the doors, where he apparently passed out.
