A 6 year old minor was shot and killed in San Pedro this morning. Information was still scanty during this morning’s police Press briefing, but according to ASP Joseph Myvette, 6 year old Daisy Emily Acevedo was shot to the neck and her step-father is in now in Police custody.
ASP Joseph Myvett, National Crimes Investigations Branch: Sometime shortly after 7:45 this morning, San Pedro Police responded to the San Pedro polyclinic, where they observed the lifeless body of a female child with apparent gunshot injuries to the neck area. Police have since detained one person in regards to this investigation, which is ongoing. One licensed 9mm pistol has also been retrieved by the police pending this investigation. The step-father of the child has been detained. From our investigations, the police is been told the gun was locked up inside a drawer in the home. This is a very recent investigation which we are going into and the police have not yet determined what exactly happened. The step father was present, but it is our understanding that the mother had left. We cannot determine the circumstance of the incident at this time, the officers are canvassing the area and as well speaking to the person in custody.
Acevedo’s 2 year old and one year old siblings were also present at the time of the shooting incident.
