vlcsnap-2013-04-15-19h43m08s243More than 600 youth countrywide are enrolled in the Police Department’s Youth Cadet Corps which has been established since 1994. The program according to the Department places emphasis on instilling sound discipline, respect for authority, leadership and team building skills among young people between the ages of 8 and 16. On Friday we visited a troubled part of the city, the corner of Euphrates and Kut Avenues where Police Precinct One is located. There we found a group of young people under the watchful eyes of policemen and women, but not for doing wrong. They were participating in the daily physical drills that are a part of the Cadet Corps development.  All of those we spoke to expressed interest in joining the Police Department when they reach 18.
