There was another road accident over the weekend, this time involving eight persons. On Sunday evening, a 1998 Green Toyota 4 Runner was travelling on the George Price Highway toward Santa Elena Town. When it reached Miles 48-49, the left rear tire blew out, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then flipped over three times. Inside the vehicle were 29 year old Aaron Mutrie, 23 year old Vanessa Paredes, 39 year old Ingris Morales, 23 year old Dulce Betancourt, 12 year old Jenelli Betancourt, 4 year old Geanni Morales and six months old Nasha Morales. Driving the truck was 23 year old Bayron Morales. Dulce and Jenelli were flung out of the vehicle and landed on the right side of the road, both unconscious. Jenelli received a broken right foot and Dulce complained of pain to her head and other parts of the body. Meanwhile, Ingris also had pain to her back, head and chest area and Vanessa suffered abrasions to her right leg. All four persons were taken to the Western Regional Hospital. Twelve year old Jenelli was later transferred to the KHMH in a critical condition and Dulce was admitted to ward. The vehicle received damages to its windshield and its hood and both rear tires were also damaged. The driver has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
