Port Loyola voters challenging ejection from voter's list
Date: Thu 02, Feb 2012 |
Eleven Port Loyola Voters are challenging the removal of their names from the voter’s list. Darrell Bradley, the representative for the 11 residents of the Port Loyola area was at court today to present their case and appeal the disallowance. The representatives of the Belize Election and Boundaries office included as many as six senior officers.  Today, the matter was addressed in court, before Senior Magistrate, Anne Marie in Court #2 where arguments were presented on both sides.  According to the Belize Election & Boundaries office, they are saying that the persons whose name were taken off the voter’s list did not appeal within the required time. Meanwhile, Bradley, on behalf of the eleven persons, argued that that was not so and that they had a period of ten days to do so.   The Senior Magistrate has adjourned the matter for tomorrow morning at 11:00 where both sides will be making further submissions on other issues regarding the matter.
