Allege victim of police brutality charged with attempted murder

Police say they have formally arrested and charged Justo Lopez with attempted murder of PC White. Lopez appeared on the news complaining of police brutality after he was held in connection to the shooting of the police officer at the Belama Phase 2 police substation. This incident happened in March of 2011. Lopez said the police detained him earlier this week but brutally beat him during questioning. Police have also arrested and charged Lopez for wounding and aggravated assault upon Sergeant Alfonso Aban. It is alleged that while Sgt Alan was trying to detain Lopez, Lopez almost bit off his finger. Lopez told us tat he was defending himself during the beating he was receiving. Today, a police press release says that Lopez attempted to escape but was apprehended by Sgt Aban during which a struggle ensued between them. As a result, Sgt Aban was bitten on the right thumb by Justo Lopez. With the assistance of other police officers, Sgt Aban managed to free his thumb from Justo Lopez’s mouth. Sgt Aban received two large bite wounds to his right thumb and was taken to the KHMH for treatment where his injuries were classified as wounding. Police say that Lopez has since been positively identified as the shooter of PC White.
