Man seriously injured in Rosewood accident still in need of assistance

Earlier in January we reported on a rose wood related incident that took place in Punta Gorda. Anthony Edwards and his family were walking home from church service when a log fell from a truck that was transporting rosewood logs. The log broke Edward's legs and he had been previously receiving treatment at the KHMH in Belize City. Doctors were at first considering amputating Anthony's legs due to the severity of the injury but that decision was reconsidered and Anthony Edwards was sent back home with both his legs in a cast. Anthony Edwards and his wife were back in Belize City this week at the KHMH and plus news spoke with Anthony's wife Justina Edwards.

When I went to the Police Station, there was no charge, not even for the driver, because I know Maynard came over and talked to him and told him that he was not the one that was driving.

And he is a resident of the same village?

Yes he is a resident from the Jacinto - Maynard Jacobs. He was the one, when he was on the ground, he was the one that came out and said, I am not the one driving and tears came down from his cheek, because I was his wife, standing close to him, crying out for help.

Yes, he said that he was not driving.
In an interview with the media, the driver of the truck said that he had assisted the Edwards with over four thousand dollars, but according to Justina, if that were so, her husband would have already done the surgery.

They said this morning that the big bone and the small bone are broken and this one has a big bone broken from this side and on the other side and that is the bone that is smashed into pieces - the one that had the six pieces. The doctor told me there is nothing that he could do, even if he operates on it, because there is nothing that they can put in there. Even out there, there is nothing that he can put there, but he said that he will try all he can on Friday.
Justina said that Rodwell Williams has not been cooperative as of recent days as he cautioned her that he would stop aiding the family if she continued to speak with the media.

He hasn’t even spoken to us from the time we came to Belize. I sit here and I am concerned about what I will do and who I need to talk to. All I am asking for is assistance for my husband and I am waiting for assistance from the driver and there is none. However he is saying that he gave me four-thousand dollars and he got upset with me when I said on PGTV that he didn’t. He told me that even if I want to go through the courts I will not get anything because I am poor. Yes, I know I am a poor, but there is a God that will help me, because I don’t have money. My husband works and he is the one that brings money and food. I take care of my children at home; I don’t have an education, I don’t have anything, so all I do is just what I can do and just sell out what I have and that’s how I have a little change to come back to Belize City.
