BUA calls for the removal of all political appointees from government offices
The Belize Unity Alliance which is the merger between the VIP, PNP and all independent candidates sent out a release calling for the immediate and unconditional removal of all ministerial CEO’s and political appointees. The Alliance says that while they recognize the importance of an administration to appoint people who are supportive of them to carry out their mandate while serving as the government, to retain these individuals after the dissolution of the national assembly is unacceptable. Allowing these individuals to continue in their given capacities is a clear conflict of interest since their appointment by nature is political. The release ends by saying we additionally demand that no government assigned vehicle be used for campaigning or electioneering and that no public funds, resources or material is use as financing for any campaign in any form. We therefore call that all CEO’s and political appointees step down immediately and sever all professional ties with the offices they held.
