Multiple shooting in Belize City leaves four injured
Last night at around 10:45 a group of three men were in downtown Belize City – at the battlefield park – when a vehicle stopped and began to open fire at the men. The men injured in the shooting were Gilbert Wade of Ross Pen Road, Kendel Flowers of Fabers Road, Deon Lord; a Tour Guide of Gill Street and a homeless man that sleeps at the battlefield park. 20 year old Gilbert Wade received a gunshot wound to the right thigh, 18 years old Kendell Flowers had a gunshot wound to his right arm and one to his left arm, 30 years old Dion Lord received a gunshot wound to his inner thigh and 49 year old Evon Jones, the homeless man, had an apparent gunshot wound to the right rib cage area with an apparent exit wound to the left side of his rib cage area. Initial investigations revealed that three of the men were changing a flat tire of a white Astro Chevrolet van which was parked on Albert Street near the food stalls. The Motive for the shooting has not yet been established and police say that their investigations continue. Police have since recovered 5 expended 9mm shells from the area but still have no one detained as yet. Wade, Flowers and Lord were treated and discharged but Jones was admitted in a stable condition.
