PUP’s Lake I Executive Committee steps down
The PUP’s Lake Independence Executive Committee says it will not be working with the new standard bearer Martin Galvez. This is the same committee that worked to see Cordel Hyde elected three times but yesterday, they sent out a press release saying they won’t back Galvez. Galvez is the brother of Yolanda Shackron who stepped in after Shackron’s nomination was rejected due to her dual citizenship. A release from Committee Chairperson, Cardinal Usher, and Campaign Manager, Evan Garnett, says quote, "The PUP Lake Independence Executive Committee announces that as of today, Monday, February 20, the Committee is officially standing down." It continues to say that quote, "In the wake of the disqualification of the proposed candidate and the Party's selection of a replacement, we felt the need to reconsider our position…In hindsight, we should have stood down as a committee immediately after our long-time area representative withdrew his candidacy. Not having done so then, we are doing it now." End quote. Last week, the PUP committee for Albert Division had also stood down after Jorge Espat stepped down from running as the PUP standard bearer for that division.
