The Peoples United Party launched its Manifesto today. With over a hundred pledges, leader of the peoples united party Hon. Francis Fonseca said that their manifesto represents the framework for the PUP plan to deliver Belize from economic and social crisis. He said that that their plans are realistic and his team competent.

Hon. Francis Fonseca, Leader, PUP
This manifesto represents the frame work for our PUP plan to deliver Belize from economic and social crisis. It reflects our party’s vision for and commitment to a Belize with a growing economy, new and innovative job opportunities, lower cost of living, social stability and an ever improving quality of life. We offer you a competent team of candidates with a strong realistic plan to deliver Belize to a better future.

The PUP manifesto covers many areas from their plans to develop education, decrease crime and strengthen the economy. There is even a plan to restructure the Belize Marketing corporation (BMC) as an export agency and facilitator for farmers. The  PUP says they will also review the tax system to provide incentives to increase production and productivity.

Oscar Requena, Toledo West Standard Bearer, PUP
The PUP will provide unflinching support to the traditional industries – sugar, citrus, bananas, seafood and other diversified crops such as farm fish, shrimp papayas and cachous, which provide very substantial export earnings and generate thousands of jobs and livelihood to Belize families throughout the country. The PUP will restructure the Belize Marketing Corporation as an export agency and facilitate farmers to market their produce abroad. The PMC will cease to import goods, which distorts the domestic market causing unacceptable crop and financial losses to producers.

The PUP says that it supports the call for a referendum on offshore drilling and will institute a moratorium on offshore drilling. They also pledge to stimulate further investment in the exploration and development of Belize’s Petroleum Industry and create a more transparent bidding process.

Julius Espat, PUP
A new ministry of petroleum with a focus on Science and Technology will ensure the right enabling environment for future exploration and expansion of this industry to benefit all Belizeans, while protecting the livelihood of indigenous Belizeans and our ecological integrity and will institute a moratorium on offshore drilling.

The PUP proposes a reform agenda where it pledges to enshrine in the constitution a mandatory requirement for a referendum for any proposed amendment to the constitution. The PUP also pledges to reduce the term of government to four years and implement a fixed date for election in every four year cycle.

Anthony Sylvester, PUP
The PUP will reduce the term of Government to four years and there will be a fixed date for elections every four years. The PUP is committed to an elected Senate. We will maintain majority control of public utilities. The PUP Government will enact a freedom of press law which will guarantee free press and protect whistle blowers who expose abuse, acts of corruption and waste of resources in public life.

As we said the PUP manifesto has over a hundred pledges and can be obtained from their standard bearers for the various constituencies.

The manifesto looks good, just as everything that the PUP has promised in the past, looks good, but that is not the problem. The only thing that the manifesto should say is "if we thief the people we going to jail" and Francis you have my vote for u to become our next PM, meanwhile if no statement like that in this manifesto, we prefer to vote independent. by PUPinsider
