22 year old Jerome Locke remains in a critical but stable condition after being stabbed in the chest last week, but police say they have caught the man alleged to have done it. 21 year old Ignatius Williams of Belize City appeared today before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and grievous harm. No plea was taken from Williams and due to the nature of the offenses, Williams was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 16, 2015. Locke’s mother, Melita Flores, described to us why her son probably should not be alive today, according to doctors.
Doctor says they don’t know how my son is still alive because where he got the stab, he should have already died. My son reached the hospital with the knife in him. Doctor had to take out the knife. it was not a regular knife, it was a big knife with curve.
According to Flores, her son and the accused, Ignatius Williams, had a previous incident 7 months ago prior to him being stabbed. She described it for us.
Seven months ago this young boy was hanging out with them. But this guys is not really his friend. The hung out with him and his friends. This young guy ended up drunk and he started to stone other people and tantalize other people. So my son told him “bway, me and my crew no rest so, if da so better you roll.” So he told my son, Jerome, mek i hang out with you because unu cannot handle all those girls. So my son told him ” you done drunk already and you adi tantalize people, it better yu roll, man, Roll roll, and you done drunk already, you need to go sleep off that liquor.” So he got offended and shoved my son and punched him in the mouth. My son said he got physical too and started to defend himself, and so he punched the young boy, they wrestled, and he had the young boy on the ground. then police came.
According to Locke and his mother, he never saw or hung out with Williams again until he was stabbed last week. Williams was out on bail for another attempted murder and abetment to murder in connection with a reported murder-for-hire plot, we are told.
