Alleged murderer of Panamanian diplomat returns to court

The case of 18 year old Wilser Echeverria, accused murderer of Panamanian Diplomat Jose Rodrigo De La Rosa Standford, continued on Tuesday.

On November 26th Wilser Echeverria, a resident of Salvapan Area, Belmopan, was charged for theft of a motor vehicle assigned to Panamanian Diplomat Jose De La Rosa.

vlcsnap-2015-01-28-07h57m22s57Subsequently, on December 4th, Echeverria was charged for the murder of De La Rosa.

The story took a bizarre turn when the family of Wilser Echeverria alleged self defense on his behalf.

18 year old Echeverria, a recent father, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

On Tuesday at around 9 am he returned unrepresented to the Magistrate’s Court in Belmopan, where he was again read his charges. The lead prosecutor Lucio Shal proceeded to inform Magistrate Aretha Ford that the case file was still incomplete, since the forensic reports have not arrived.

The case is to return to court on April 21st. The trial will be heard at the Supreme Court on a date to be set.
