39-year-old Amancia Martinez is fortunate to be alive after she came under fire while in her home. Martinez, a Belizean Hair Braider of San Pedro Town, told police that sometime around 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, she arrived home in a taxi. It was after entering her home and closing her door that she heard 7 loud bangs and realized that her house was being shot at. Martinez said she threw herself to the floor for cover at which time she felt a burning sensation and discovered that she had received gunshot wounds to her right upper arm and right side of her abdomen. Police arrived shortly after and transported her to the San Pedro Polyclinic for medical attention where she was admitted in a stable condition. Police investigations continue.
