As a part of the 2 year program to promote job creation and entrepreneurship, sponsored by the Belmopan City Council and through a grant from the US Embassy, the Belmopan Active Youths will travel to the Jaguar Creek resort with 40 youths for two days to participate in activities geared towards equipping them with the necessary skills for job placement.
“Their either unemployed or out of school. So what we are doing with them for the next two weekends, actually it is a four day program but we decidedthat we wanted the program to be intimate with these youths, so we are moving them outside of the city limits and we are taking them into a very nice resort. There, they will be trained in job readiness preparation. We are looking at getting the youths to be more equipped to be at the work place. A component of our projects is apprentice and we do not want to send these young people off into people’s business and organizations without them being properly prepared. We are looking at customer service, public relation and all that it takes to move into the job place. We are looking at job interviews, job etiquette, telephone etiquette and all that encompasses moving on into some bodies work place and making yourself a valuable assets to whatever organization you go to so that they want to keep you there. “
This weekend’s activities are a part of a two week training course and while it is too late for youths to apply for this course, there are other upcoming activities that they can still apply for.
“We had the last on in January and now it’s April, so one should be coming up soon. I am inviting all of you youths who have not joined the program as yet, it is a requirement, a prerequisite, actually it is prepares you for life. So as we see here, in the job creation and entrepreneurship development program, we find it extremely important that you come out and be a part of it because it is vital for your professionalism
