Men’s Missions Belize is a program under the “Be the one Ministries” an international organization that teaches discipleship. Men’s Missions Belize aims to teach, train, and mentor young men on the topic of business ethics.
On Friday the Men’s Missions Belize team is in Belmopan and will be hosting a dynamic one on one conference with the young men of Belmopan.
Richard Smith, the local coordinator for Men’s Mission Belize, told us more about the conference that is to be held at My Refuge Christian Ministries Campus in Roaring Creek Village.
“We have 15 Christian men, nine of them are businessmen who own their own businesses, and they are here wanting to do one-on-one with our young men, to train them in business ethics, and what it requires for us to be men of integrity in our dealings.
Today we’re inviting twenty young men who will stay over. More than twenty can come.
Today (Friday) we start at 6 p.m. Tomorrow (Saturday) will be at 9 in the morning until 1 o’clock, when we’ll have a barbeque for men.
After that we’re meeting 2 o’clock with pastors, to talk about some significant issues that are confronting our nation, and as a church. So we want to bring in the pastors tomorrow (Saturday) for one hour. That’s from 2 o’clock to 3 o’clock.
We’ve been doing a lot of business consulting, along with our business men. Last night (Thursday) was the Belmopan business meeting with these 9 Christian businessmen. We had a wonderful time. We met with University students.
Throughout the whole time we’re pushing what makes business grow.”
Eric Oliver is one of the 15 men that will be speaking at the two day conference. He told us what his topic will be about.
“I’m personally going to be speaking on integrity and how important integrity is in business, and how much better business would be here in Belize when we walk in integrity. We want to encourage you. Come out. You can’t miss this guys.
Integrity is a big word. It can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Essentially what it is, it’s doing the right thing when no one’s looking.
We’ve got some fundamental ways of establishing integrity in your life, ’cause let’s face it, we blow it on a daily basis.
I’ve got six points that I’m going to teach you how to walk in integrity every day. We’re going to be talking about employers, employees. We going to be talking about what to look for in an employee. As an employee, what you want to do get your boss’ attention, and maybe move up the ladder.
We’re going to be talking about fundamental truths that you can apply in either case, as an employer or as an employee.”
The conference started at 6:00 pm Friday evening. If you missed this first session you can make it for Saturday morning’s session in Roaring Creek starting at 9:00 am.
