Belize City Council releases independent audit

The Belize City Council has released the recently completed 2013-14 audit for the financial year ending March 31, 2014. It comes three months before scheduled elections and in the midst of the ongoing battle with Belize Maintenance Limited (BML) over the planned absorption of a supermajority of its staff into the Council as the Council ends BML’s contract for city maintenance.

But Mayor Darrell Bradley says it is important that City residents see and read the audit and look at the Council’s finances and work  to have a means of questioning the Council, a majority of whom are running for re-election, about their work and plans for the next three years.

We could not find a link to the audit on the Council’s website, but it is expected to be posted shortly, as are minutes of the Council and recent financial statements.
