A Belize City resident was shot and killed on New Year’s Day. On Friday the 1st of January 21-year-old Kieron Shaquille Moss of Belize City was walking with two females on Levi Slusher Street when two male persons on a motorcycle approached them. One of the passengers then got off the motorcycle and fired several shots at Moss. Moss was shot several times to the body and to the head. He was then transported to the K.H.M.H where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Keiron Moss is Belize City’s first murder victim for 2016; Police have no suspects and no leads in the investigation of the New Year’s morning murder of 21 year old Moss, a resident of the Port Loyola Community. This even though there are two eyewitnesses. Moss was an athletic star for Anglican Cathedral College (ACC) and wanted to be a police officer – in fact, he aspired to join the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU). But his life was cut short while he was heading home from New Year’s festivities in the Old Capital. Eastern Division police told us more at a briefing this afternoon.
ASP Marcia Moody, O.C., Precinct 2, Eastern Division South: There was a young man that was shot. On arrival, police saw one Kieron Moss of Freedom Street who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body. He was apparently dead on the scene and was later confirmed by the medical people from the ambulance. What we have confirmed so far is that he was with two females at the time. I am not aware of anyone being grazed, but we have since recorded statements from those two females and as a result, we are still investigating that incident. Investigation at this time, we have since detained one young man of interest who we believe could assist us with our investigation for the purpose of questioning. No motive so far as it relates to this shooting we have established. We are still investigating.
