The Belize National Women’s Volleyball Team won the silver medal in the 20th Central American Women’s Volleyball Championship, which was held in Belize City from August 4th-8th, 2018. In last night’s game against Guatemala’s National Team, Team Belize won a nail biting five round match in front of a sold out Belize City Civic Center. Team Belize also won four awards during the official award ceremony. Sherika Burton won awards for Best Spiker with 86 kills and Best Scorer with 96 points. Shantell Arnold was awarded Best Opposite, scoring 68 points: 48 spikes, 13 blocks and 7 serves. Karen Quan won Best Setter. GOB issued a congratulatory statement today and says that Hon. Patrick Faber, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture, along with the National Sports Council will be hosting a motorcade through the streets of Belize City in honor of the team on Monday, August 13, 2018, starting at 2:30 p.m. from the Marion Jones stadium in Belize City and ending at the Civic Center where an acknowledgment ceremony will be held.
