Belizean man detained in Mexico for crimes against biodiversity

A Belizean man bound to China was detained in Mexico by Mexican Government Environmental officials after being caught with protected marine life. According to Mexico News Today, the man was detained at the International Airport of Mexico City after being found in possession of seahorses, sea cucumbers, and fish bladder. According to the Mexican media house, the man was arrested after police detected the smell of fish. An inspection of his suitcase led to the discovery of two bags containing 88 dried seahorses along with two bags of sea cucumbers and two bags of fish bladder. Charges were reportedly levied against him for crimes against biodiversity. He  was detained in Mexico until his trial.
