Belizean police clueless about possible Sinaloa Cartel connected incident involving Belizean

A Belizean believed to have strong ties to the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico was detained by Mexican authorities in Chetumal last week Wednesday. Dioney Rolando, also known as ‘El Nene’,  is reportedly an employee of Zurizaday, the alleged operator of the Sinaloa Cartel in Chetumal. ‘El Nene’ and 4 Mexican men reportedly tried to evade a police checkpoint in a blue pickup truck along the Chetumal highway while approaching the Airport. Mexican Authorities reportedly set chase behind the men, and caught up with them on the Subteniente Lopez Bridge. Reports are that over a dozen vehicles with Mexican police officers arrived at the location and escorted the men to the police station after ‘El NeNe’ allegedly called for backup. This morning, ACP Myvette told the media that the Belize Police Department knows little about the incident besides what was shared on the media.

ASP.  Joseph Myvette, OC of NCIB: No we do not have any official report other than what was on the social media, but we are following up on that.

Reporter: Is this someone who is on your radar at all?

ASP.  Joseph Myvette, OC of NCIB: No.

Reporter: El Nene is not a person of interest or awareness to you all?

ASP.  Joseph Myvette, OC of NCIB: No we are not aware of that until that was posted on the social media.

Reporter: Is he a Belizean indeed?

ASP.  Joseph Myvette, OC of NCIB: Well, that will have to be verified.
