Last week Wednesday over thirty young Belizean performers, visual artists, fashion designers and writers were geared up and ready to board a plane to Suriname to participate in the 11th annual CARIFESTA. A total of 24 countries are expected to participate in what is known as the biggest art and cultural festival in the Caribbean region.  This year Belize is taking a wide variety of performers to represent its rich culture. Among the Belizean delegates are the Belize Dance Company and the Galen Eagle Music Band. Both groups performed on the second day of the festival, following the Opening Ceremonies the previous day, Friday August 16th. Performances from all participating countries will continue throughout the week as scheduled. On the last day of the festival, scheduled for August 24th, the Galen Eagles Band will give the final performance of the night.
