Belize’s Soccer Teams Play Abroad

Last week Thursday we told you about the Football Under 20 Male team which travelled to El Salvador to participate in this year’s UNCAF Qualifier. The games are being held from the 17th to the 29th of this month at the Cuscantlan Stadium in San Salvador. Since Friday, the Belize team has played two games so far; one against Nicaragua, and the other against Hosts, El Salvador. The team has lost both games; in the game against El Salvador, Belize took 6 goals and scored none. In the game played today against Nicaragua the team lost again in a 4 nill ball game. On Wednesday Belize plays Panama.

However, one football team that is currently making a name for itself is the  Under 12 Team that is currently playing in Retalhuleu, Guatemala. The U-12 team hails from the Belmopan School of Talent and they are representing Belize at the Codicader Games for Primary School level kids throughout Central America. Today the young team won its first game. It played against the tournament hosts; Guatemala and won in a 6 to 3 game. Young Wilfredo “Buddy” Galvez scored four of those goals while Dexter “Dalla” Belisle scored the other two. Tomorrow, July 22,  the Belize U-12 team meets Panama and on Wednesday, July 23, they meet Nicaragua.

Since we are on football, this weekend The Belmopan Bandits travelled to Campeche Mexico to play in a quadrangular football Tournament. Bandits drew their first game 0 to 0 but won their second and third games to come out as Champions of the event. Congratulations are in order. Remember that Sportzone with Raynord Garbutt and Dale Pelayo airs LIVE tonight, Monday,  on PlusTV right after our news repeat.
