A home in Belmopan was shot up on Thursday night and the father of the home injured. According to police reports, sometime around 10:00 p.m., police responded to a shooting incident on Colombia Street, Salvapan area, Belmopan at the residence of 39-year-old Russell Arnold . Arnold says that while inside his house along with his wife and their four children, he heard several gunshots. He and his family immediately but Arnold felt blood coming from his forehead and immediately called for assistance. We spoke with Arnold and here is how he describes what happened.
Russell Arnold, Shooting Victim: Last night at about 9:45, I was in my house watching the basketball game, and I said I was going to take off the TV to go in my bed, and then after that I just heard gunshots. I see some of the bullets come to the top of my head and then I duck cause some more bullets came to my head and the one of them graze my head and so I got a peal in my head. No one else got hurt, because when we heard the gunshot I told everyone to get down, and da so we cut off the light and get down because we didn’t know how many shots they would shoot towards the house but I believe the car save us because they shoot at the top of the house, they didn’t shoot to the direction of the car. Maybe if the car wasn’t parked in front of the house I don’t know if I would be standing here right now. About 5 of them come last night and they came from the field with their face covered so they came with the mind to shoot and hurt anybody who the though they saw.
Arnold says that he is not afraid of saying what happened because he his not in conflict with anyone and it may be a case of mistaken identity.
Russell Arnold, Shooting Victim: I would feel good and happy if the police could do their job and patrol around in this place at night because this place is dark, they surround the field, ,majority of the time they watch the house waiting to do something and I don’t know. They shot at me and my house and my wife and my family, we are not bad people. We work hard everyday trying to live and we nu give trouble. We nuh sell drugs or do anything like that
