A woman was victim to a savage attack in the Stann Creek village. 41 year old Maria Perez was found with severe chop wounds to her body on a farm located off the Placencia Road. Police investigations have revealed that yesterday, at about 4:00pm, Perez arrived in the village and was seen walking between Green Gold and Sagitun Farm. Sometime around 10:00pm that night, several people at a shop in Green Gold Village say that they heard a woman screaming. They then reported the matter to a local business woman, who went to check and found the Perez on the ground apparently dead. With more on this story, here is our Dangriga correspondent, Harry Arzu.
“Independence Village police continue investigating two separate murders that occurred in the Stann Creek and the Toledo District. Police say that on Sunday January 5th, they visited Green Grove Banana Farm located in the Stann Creek district and discovered there, the body of 41 years old businesswoman Maria Domitilia Perez of Benque Viejo del Carmen lying on a feeder road that leads to Sagitun farm. Perez body was observed with multiple chop wounds to the head and body, including her face and back. Her right small finger was completely cut off and her wrist was almost severed. Police say that they have any motive for the gruesome killing of Maria Perez, but they have a person in custody who they say, might have spoken to the deceased by phone shortly before her death. Her body is now at the Southern Regional Hospital Morgue where it awaits a post mortem examination”..
