BTB donates over $100,000 for disaster relief efforts

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and its partners in the industry have donated over one hundred thousand dollars to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). The check for $119,868 is specifically for regional disaster relief efforts for countries affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria which both tore through the Caribbean last September.  BTB’s Director of Marketing and Industry Relations presented the cheque to Hugh Riley, Secretary General of the CTO during a virtual press conference hosted by the CTO in Barbados. The donated funds were raised by donating $1 for every tourist arrival to Belize for the month of October. Each tourism stakeholder also donated $1 for every guest that stayed in their establishment or used their service. Participating stakeholders included the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA), the Belize Hotel Association (BHA), Tropic Air, the Belize Airport Concession Company (BACC), tour operators, water taxis, and hoteliers, among others.
