Today, the NTUCB also released a statement condemning any form of physical, emotional or psychological abuse of children and women. The NTUCB says it is calling “… for all those responsible for the death of this baby to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. In addition, NTUCB urges legislators to amend applicable laws to provide for stiffer penalties on conviction for such heinous acts.
The National Evangelical Association of Belize added its voice, saying it condemns any and all sexual abuse, which is far too rampant in our nation. NEAB calls for “…a full and proper investigation ….., for proper charges to be laid and for the accused to stand trial and receive punishment fit for the crime.”
The Toledo Alcaldes Association and the Maya Leaders Alliance also issued a statement saying that the systematic cycle of violence in our little Belize strikes the most vulnerable the hardest. It also says that as a people we must wake up and challenge even the smallest injustice against our society.
