About 7pm Friday, 26 February our news team was called out to the scene of a traffic accident on the George price Highway in Camalote
Village, Cayo District. When we arrived police had already cordoned off about 200 yards of the highway, blocking traffic on both sides , and debris from several vehicles lay scattered on the highway. The accident involved a Red Isuzu Rodeo which was seen overturned in the drain on the left side of the road, and blue motorcycle on the ground a few feet away . We also observed a grey Jeep Cherokee with the side extensively damaged. Four people had already been rushed to the hospital; 2 from the motorcycle and 2 from the red Rodeo. Glen Sheppard was in the long line of vehicles heading towards Belmopan on friday when the red rodeo came over the hill. here is his account. Daniel Grande was the driver of the grey jeep that was hit first while travelling in his lane. Brett Dalessandro is a tourist in Belize, just back from a tour of duty in Afganistan as a US Military personnel. He and his friends were driving on the highway when they came upon the scene. Jesus Martinez and Marcus Guzman were in the red isuzu while Adonias Lemus and Marcelino Vasquez were on the Cycle. All four were taken to the Western Regional Hospital. The two men in the red vehicle were treated and released from Hospital but of the other two men who were on the motorcycle, one has been released but Marcelo Vasquez, who received the injury to the head, has been transferred to KHMH, as his brain injury has also affected his cognitive abilities.
