Ambergris CAye police are asking the public’s assistance in locating Canadian National Jordan Bacchus Bacchus is wanted for the murder of 31-year-old Melvin Almendarez who was found dead on May 6th at a feeder road in Southern Ambergris Caye. A post mortem conducted on Almendarez’s body revealed that he died as of acute pulmonary edema, face trauma as a consequence of blunt instrument type and a gunshot wound to the abdomen. After being shot, it was believed that he was run over by a golf cart. Bacchus was the last person seen with Almendarez before his dead body was discovered and so police had held him as a person of interest. At the time he was detained drugs were found on him and he was charged for drug possession even as the murder investigation continued. Almendarez was given bail for the drug possession and now police say they want to charge Almendarez with the murder since they now have sufficient evidence, but Bacchus is nowhere to be found. Deputy Officer in Charge of the San Pedro Police Sub-Formation Henry Jemmott told San Pedro Sun regarding Bacchus that, “We were able to find clothing with blood at his residence; his golf cart had blood underneath as well. Hair specimens from the victim were also found on his belongings,” Bacchus also tested positive with gun powder residue on his hands. Police are not certain if Bacchus is still in the country though upon receiving bail he had to surrender all traveling documents. Notices have been issued to all port of entries/exits within the country and the Canadian Consulate in the country has also been made aware of the situation. The police are asking for the public’s help; if anyone knows the whereabouts of Bacchus to please cal San Pedro police or crime stoppers 0-800-922-tips.
