Police have confirmed the detention of one man pending investigation of a shooting incident in Belize City on Thursday morning.
Around 9:57 at the corner of Banak and Lakeview Streets, 46 year old Carlos Abraham Jr., also known as “Zimbab,” was shot in the neck and arm.
The George Street resident is reported to be in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where police were on guard Thursday morning against possible retaliation.
Carlos Abraham was associated with the George Street Gang, and in August of 2011 was one of several residents who clashed with the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU), following the death of Charles Woodye, and later received a settlement.
His son Joshua Abraham was fatally shot on Independence Day in the Victoria Street area, but as of this year he was reported to be staying out of trouble.
