Reliable reports inform us that the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Health Peter Allen is calling for the removal of Chief Pharmacist Sharon Anderson from the Ministry of Health. Now if you have been keeping abreast of the situation, you would know that this is not the first time that Anderson and the CEO Peter Allen have been at odds. Sharon Anderson’s status at the Ministry could almost be described as a fading star, which has been dwindling under CEO Peter Allen. She holds a Master’s Degree in Pharmacology but her duties and oversight have been stripped away bit by bit. This includes her removal from the tender committee. She was replaced there by a junior pharmacist. Then there was the stripping of her duties as it relates to the training of new pharmacists. The tensions at the Ministry between Sharon Anderson and CEO Peter Allen was amplified with the hiring of Minister Erwin Contreras’ daughter, Danini Contreras, as the Director of Drug Inspectorate, a post created for Contreras within the Ministry, adding her name to the list of signatories that can sign for imported pharmaceuticals coming into the country. The only other name on that list is the Chief Pharmacist, Sharon Anderson. But now it seems that the CEO has finally resolved to giving Anderson the full breadth of the boot, essentially kicking her out of the Ministry. According to our sources, late last week, CEO Peter Allen sent a letter to the CEO in the Public Service commission requesting Chief Pharmacist Sharon Andersons’ transfer from the Ministry of Health. Union Senator Ray Davis told us that he was abreast of the situation but he had not received the official letter as yet and so cannot make official comment at this time. We will keep you posted on this developing story.
