Chairman of Progressive Sugar Cane Farmers Association shot

The chairman of the Progressive Sugar Cane Farmers Association 34 year old Abizor Loza was hospitalized after being shot several times to this his right arm, reportedly, from a shotgun. Details are still sketchy as the incident was never reported to the Corozal police and the family members remain tight lipped. Authorities only got wind of the situation when someone from the Northern Regional hospital phoned them that they had a shooting victim from Corozal. Sources however indicate that the incident happened around 2 am this morning on a sugar cane field belonging to Loza located West of Patchakan Village, Corozal District. There, sources say, Abizor Loza was ambushed by a group of armed men who inflicted the injuries on him. Loza was later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. All indications are that Abizor Loza was alone at the time of the incident. The last update we heard of Loza was that he was in a critical but stable condition. 34 year old Abizor Loza is the chairman the Progressive Sugar Cane Farmers Association, one of the groups that recently branched off the larger Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association.
