Chinese Stores Targeted in the North

Belize Police badgeLast week we reported on the armed robberies of two Chinese stores in Corozal. There was another one last night. This one occurred at Jing Jing store located at the corner of Phillip Goldson Highway and Paraiso Village Junction.

Hui Bang Chen, 52 year old Chinese Business man, reported that around 2:50pm yesterday, he was at his business place attending customers when three male persons entered.

One of them had a gun and pointed it at Chen while the other two accomplices jumped the counter and took approximately $400 in cash. The other male persons then attacked and injured a customer while stealing his wallet containing $150.00 in cash and his I/D cards.

The three assailants then came out of the establishment, stole a bicycle and rode off.  Police say they reviewed the surveillance tape and have since recovered the customer’s wallet and the stolen bicycle.

Five persons are detained for questioning and Corozal Police are looking for (2) male persons from George Street, Belize City who they believe can assist in the investigation.
