vlcsnap-2014-05-15-20h06m45s212vlcsnap-2014-05-15-20h06m57s92Turned around by functionaries of the Government of Belize in their effort to call former Minister of State Elvin Penner to justice for his role in the Won Hong Kim scandal, Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action (COLA) have turned to Prime Minister Dean Barrow in their quest to get the evidence they need for the May 29 case in Belmopan.

Today the organization released a copy of the letter which requests of the Prime Minister that he provide the following under the Freedom of Information Act:  the preliminary report provided by the Auditor General on the 21st of March, 2014; the scanned documents produced to him by Immigration Minister Godwin Hulse, which were referred to at the press conference held on the 15th of October, 2013 where the P.M. withdrew party support for Penner.

Lastly, any and all other materials and evidence provided to him by any of the authorities that have been carrying out an investigation into the wrongdoings of ex minister Penner.

It adds that it can, but is reluctant to call P.M. Barrow and others as witnesses to turn over supporting material under the District Courts Act.  Since the FOIA is being invoked, the Prime Minister has fourteen days, that is, until the 29th, to respond.
