Residents in Independence Village say that the transportation assigned by the Ministry of Education for students of the Independence High School is completely lacking proper safety measures. The students travel to and from school by boat, but that’s not the concern. As we saw when we visited the docking area yesterday, the boats are very small vessels, carrying too many persons for its size. What’s more is that the students are not provided with life vests and as you can see from the video, many of them are sitting on the edge of the boat. Today we tried contacting the Ministry of Education about the situation, but we were unable to do so.
