Cotton Tree resident arrested for hit and run

Hector Armando Monterroso, a  25 year old Belizean construction worker of Cotton Tree village, was charged with two counts of Manslaughter by Negligence, two counts of causing death by careless conduct, and failure to stop and render aid. This is in relation to the tragic hit and run accident we reported on last week which happened on Christmas Eve night between miles 42 and 43 on the George Price Highway. 33 year old Linda Hernandez  and 24 year old Oscar Rene Alvarado were knocked off a motorcuycle they were riding, their bodies flung to the road. The man died on the spot while the woman died a little later on while undergoing treatment. The driver of the vehicle which knocked them down did not stop but he did leave behind the hood ornament of a Volkswagen type vehicle. Police investigation led them to Monterosso whose vehicle matched the hood found and also had signs of traffic accident consistent with what transpired on the highway that night. Monterosa appeared in court where he received bail of $6,000.00. He is to reappear in court on April 2, 2018.vlcsnap-2018-01-02-19h44m00s742 vlcsnap-2018-01-02-19h44m25s607
