On Friday we reported that there was an armed robbery in Courts Corozal late that evening. Details were still sketchy at that time, but Police were able to give us the details at this morning’s press briefing.
Wilfredo Ferrufino, National Crimes Investigation Branch: On Friday, the report was made around eight p.m.; the manager, Mister Manuel Pech for Courts Belize Corozal Branch indicated that about four p.m., whilst at the branch, two male persons entered the establishment—one was armed with a firearm. They demanded money, they proceeded to the cashier and from there they retrieved five thousand seven hundred and thirty-nine dollars, Belize currency, property of Courts or the proceeds from sales. There was a customer in the establishment as well and he was robbed of his jewelry: gold chain, wedding band and a cell phone. That is the report that we got. There is one person of interest….two persons of interest and police are seeking those two individuals in regards to that matter
Just a couple weeks ago, a courts branch in Belize City was also robbed
