Cruise Port and issue of Exclusivity discussed at National Assembly

Bills presented for 2nd and 3rd readings at today’s Sitting of the House of representatives, included the private pensions bill  to make vlcsnap-2016-01-25-10h42m56s199provision for the registration and supervision of private pensions, the Treasury Bills Amendment Act, the Belize National Coast Guard vlcsnap-2016-01-25-10h43m44s654Service Amendment Bill, and the Belize Island Holdings facility bill, 2015. The latter bill is for an act to provide for certain exemptions from taxes and duties granted to Belize Island holdings.  Toledo East Area Representative Mike Espat spoke on the issue of  the duty exemption and questioned the feasibility of putting a Cruise port at Port Loyola.  He also addressed the issue of exclusivity to which the PM responded.
