San Ignacio businessman Daniel Silva won the Cayo Central convention on Saturday. Over one thousand nine hundred voters turned out for the PUP convention where Silva and Luke Espat were contenders. At the end of the ballot counting, Silva won by a huge margin with 1,426 votes.
“The people of Cayo Central know me and I have worked in the area and I have their full support, which implies we are going to improve housing, education; the people want lots, they want jobs; so, those are some of the important priorities; less corruption in our government, because, I don’t want to be a complainer. We need to change the direction of this country. Every morning, you hear the people on the radio dih complain, complain. So, I have a guy that has a record, I am the only guy that built house for $6,000, and we will continue these policies”.
Luke Espat received 487 votes and there were 19 spoiled ballots. The area representative for Cayo Central to be challenged by Silva is the Hon. Rene Montero.
