Former murder suspect, Deon Brackett, who walked from a murder in 2013, was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court Tuesday February 16, 2016 for the attempted murder of Raheem Akeem Bailey, who was shot in the city the previous Friday night. Bailey was the first of five persons shot during four separate shootings in the city over that weekend. Brackett is charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm with a deadly weapon, to wit, a firearm upon Bailey. Brackett was remanded without bail to the Belize Central Prison until April 18, 2016, with a preliminary inquiry set for July 8. 19 year old Raheem Bailey was reportedly at home with a friend on Allan Pitts Crescent when a man rode up on a bicycle and from twenty feet away unleashed a hail of bullets. Bailey was hit in the chest and both thighs and is listed in stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Brackett was previously accused, but had charges dropped in the murder of Marvin Foreman.
