The Western Regional hospital has been getting a lot of bad publicity since news of a rat infestation at the hospital grounds first broke in the local media. The bad reputation only increased when a video that was leaked to the media captured the moment when nurses desperately tried to exterminate a rat that had found its way inside an incubator in the hospital. Now, several days after the news broke , the rat video is getting international fame. Several news outlets in Mexico have reported on the incident including one of Mexico’s Premier news outlets “Primer Impacto.” We pulled off the story from their website, and here is their unedited report. The story has reached news outlets as far as Nigeria, Chile, Ireland, the birthplace of the CEO in our Ministry of Health, and the US; including Fox 11 and many others. One article begins by saying, “If you thought American health care was bad, check this out: a hospital in Belize reported having found a RAT in a premature infant’s incubator. The pest had already bitten the baby, and was extracted and promptly clubbed to death with a broom. I guess there’s one more
country you can cross off your list of places to give birth.” The story has even reached one of the world’s most visited news websites UK’s “Mail-Online.” Since being uploaded to their website on Saturday September 19th, the news article has received 2.8 million shares on Facebook alone.
