A man was robbed and stabbed in the Ladyville area and tonight his attacker is behind bars on remand at the Belize Central Prison. 26 year old Edward McKay recently got out of jail but is headed back there after being charged with robbery, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm upon Tyrone Scott. On Thursday, September 1, 2016, Scott reported to police that he had just exited a bus in Ladyville when he was approached by McKay, someone he has known for a while. According to Scott, McKay then held him at knife point and demanded that he hand over his belongings. Fearing for his life, he gave McKay his bag containing a cell phone, a litre of Caribbean Rum, a bottle of sprite, a 7 inch tablet and other items, all to a total of $1,036.00. After he handed over his bag to McKay, that is when McKay stabbed him to the right side of his chest, said Scott. The duo then got into a struggle and that was when he tried to disarm McKay but he fell to the ground and McKay inflicted several other stabs the front of his of body and a single stab wound to his upper back before escaping. In court, prosecutor in the case objected to bail on the grounds that Scott, the victim is still hospitalized and that McKay just exited prison for a crime. Senior Magistrate, Sharon Fraser upheld his no case submission and denied bail to McKay and informed him that he can apply to the Supreme Court. He was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October 31, 2016.
