In a present day use of section 53 of the criminal code, a man was arraigned in court this morning after being accused of sodomizing a 14-year-old girl. 26-year-old Edwin Emmanuel Coye, appeared unrepresented appeared before Senior Magistrate, Sharon Frazer this afternoon where he was read three indictable offenses, one count of unnatural crime and two counts of carnal knowledge upon the girl. In court, no plea was taken since the offenses are indictable matters and due to the nature of the offenses, no bail was offered. According to police reports, they caught Coye with the child inside an abandoned home in Belize City. The child was then handed over to a social worker while Coye was taken into police custody to the station. That is when the girl told authorities that she met Coye at a bus stop and followed him to the abandoned house where he had sexual intercourse with him on twice and an unnatural act once on three separate occasions. Coye was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June 24.
