Former Minister of Immigration, Elvin Penner, was served with a Notice of Intended prosecution after he knocked down and killed a man on Friday night. According to Penner’s account to police, just before 7 o’clock that night, he was driving his Green 2000 Ford Excursion from Belmopan to Cayo on the George Price Highway near Running W. Penner was overtaking a Red minivan and apparently did not see a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. By the time he saw the motorcycle, to avoid a head on collision, Penner swerved to his right, hit the minivan and the motorcycle then hit the left front side of his bumper. The driver of the motorcycle was flung to the ground. He has been identified as 41 year old laborer of Unitedville, Kenrick Anthony Myvette . Police told us more.
ASP Daniel Itche, Deputy OC: On Friday June 23rd 2017 at about 6:56pm, based on information received police responded to a scene of a traffic accident on the George Price Highway where Elvin Penner, 45 years old Belizean public relation officer of Koop Sheet Metal residing at #14 10th Street San Ignacio Town, reported that he was driving his dark green Ford Excursion vehicle. Upon reaching in front of Running W Meats, he saw a red color minivan traveling ahead of him at a slow pace. He began to overtake the minivan and whilst reaching parallel to the van, he saw a motorcycle coming in the opposite direction. He swerve to his right to avoid a collision. As a result he collided into the left side of the red minivan and the motorcycle collided onto the left front portion of his vehicle. He stopped his vehicle, made checks on the rider who has identified to be Mister Kenrcik Anthony Myvett, 41 years laborer of United Ville Village who sustained head and body injuries. He was transported to the Western Regional Hospital and further transported to the KHMH where he succumbed to his injuries. His motorcycle was black and red and was a striker brand bearing license plate M0858 and was extensively damaged. Mister Penner’s vehicle sustained damaged to it’s left front portion and to its right side.
Myvette was severely injured and had multiple head and body injuries. He was transported to the Western Regional Hospital and later transported to the KHMH but sometime after midnight, he passed away. Penner was served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution.
