Former Minister of State Elvin Penner will be replaced by the current Mayor of San Ignacio John August Jr. as the UDP Standard Bearer for the Cayo North East Constituency in the next general elections.
On Sunday, June 8th, more than a thousand UDP supporters came out to vote for the UDP Standard Bearer for Cayo North East. John August ran against Eduardo Juan and Anthony McNab but walked away with the majority of the votes.
“A total of 1,454 persons came out to vote. Of those 1,454 persons, we have Anthony Mcknab with 72 votes, Eduardo Juan with 398, and John Francis August with 975 votes”.
“I must say it’s been a long day, I am a bit tired, but nonetheless, I want to thank all the people that came out to vote for me today, I want to tank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me on this day. As you can see, the victory is tremendous. I am very happy to be the standard bearer for the Cayo Northeast division and I can promise you that I will work very hard to deliver the general elections whenever the Prime Minister decides to call those elections. We got to work together now. The enemy is not Eduardo Juan, nor Mr. Mcknab; the enemy is the People’s United Party”.
After the winner of the convention was announced the other two candidates pledged their continued support to the party in read.
“Well, the people have decided and they have come out and supported Mr. John August. I also want to say thanks for those people who came out for me from Cayo Northeast”.
“I would now kindly ask everyone that we support Mr. John August unfailingly, willingly, and without question”.
August will run against Orlando “Landy” Habet, PUP Standard Bearer for Cayo Northeast in the next General Elections.
