Today in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, two businessmen appeared separately on charges of failing to render particulars, being Social Security numbers, for their employees within fourteen days of the start of the calendar month as provided for in the Social Security Act.
Leiva is alleged to be in error for the months of July to November inclusive in 2013 and Gomez for December of 2013 and January of 2014.
Leiva pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stuart and his case was adjourned until May 8.,
Meanwhile, Gomez appeared with attorney Stevanni Duncan, who asked the Magistrate to dismiss the charges against her client as he was not in fact the owner or employer at PASA Belize, but an employee himself as general manager, and so was not the proper person to answer the charge.
The SSB representative in court asked for time to prepare a response and Magistrate Stuart set April 24 as the date for continuation.
