vlcsnap-2013-03-01-18h59m55s160A Resident of Alta Vista Village in the Stann Creek District lost his life as a result of a traffic accident that occurred over the weekend.  The incident happened on Saturday, March the 2nd, at about 8:25 p.m., between miles 15 and 16 on the Stann Creek Valley Road.  Reports are that when Police arrived at the scene, they noticed that a blue Toyta Camry car, with license plate SC-C 10067, parked on the right hand side of the highway, facing towards Belmopan City, and a male person of Hispanic descent lying face down on the hood of the said motor vehicle.  Reportedly, they also observed a blue 125 Max motorcycle without license plate some 90 feet away from the car.  Police investigation surrounding the accident revealed that Jairo Zetina was driving his car towards the direction of Belmopan when he noticed a motorcycle without headlights, moving in the opposite direction.  Zetina reported that he swerved to avoid a collision, however the driver of the motorcycle reportedly collided into his car.  He was later identified as 29 years-old Ervin Augustine, a Guatemalan of Alta Vista Village.  As a result of the impact, Augustine suffered head and body injuries.  He was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
