Hon. Gaspar Vega, last Tuesday March 8th, tendered his resignation from the post of 1st Deputy Party Leader for the UDP, saying that he has no intentions to pursue another term of office after he finishes serving this current term. In light of that decision, Vega says he decided to step down and will not be seeking endorsement at the UDP upcoming convention on March 20th. The party has decided to not address finding Vega’s replacement at the upcoming convention and so endorsements will be only for the Leader of the Party and other deputies and chairman. However, some eyes are already on Vega’s soon to be vacant post. One of those interested persons is Hon John Saldivar, the Belmopan area representative. The media asked him today first for his reaction to Vega’s departure. Saldivar then gave his comments on the possibility of him moving up in the UDP ranks.
